Law, culture, and Catholicism...up in smoke!

Monday, March 09, 2009

"This is truly a monstrosity."

When relatives of mine said they were Obama supporters, I made a prediction that if Obama were elected, there would in short time be a rise of attacks on Christians and Catholics in particular.

It didn't take long. There was immediate violence against Christians in the wake of Prop 8 (no comments from Obama), and now we are seeing this kind of thing.

The State is seeking to wrest control of local parishes away from the local ordinary by targeting Catholic Churches directly. Check out Bishop Lori's comments here.

It seems that this has been a very carefully planned attack that is tied to a debate on homosexual "marriage."

Here are comments from the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty:

"This bill is doubly unconstitutional. It would be unconstitutional underthe First Amendment even if it applied to all churches. but the fact thatit applies to only one church - the Catholic Church - makes itunconstitutional under the Fourteenth Amendment besides. This is truly amonstrosity."

Thank's to the Papist for covering this story.
