News Briefs: Falling Worker Gets Head Injury at Ave Maria Town

Poor Guy. Workers' Comp doesn't pay enough for stuff like this: Jorge Arturo Hernandez-Castillo fell from a height of about 10 feet at 9:21 a.m. He's a construction worker at Ave Maria Town.

Ave Maria University's public relations officials said the male worker fell from a ladder and suffered a minor cut to the head, along with some bruises. Officials said they had him flown to the hospital as a precaution.

Note who is doing the talking: the public relations officials. It is good that they flew him there, as a fall from 10 feet can be a nasty head injury, with permanent effects. Earlier today, Naples NBC Channel 2's blip was titled "Construction worker seriously injured at Ave Maria" but now they dropped the modifier "seriously" for just plain injured.

Say a little prayer for that guy that his recovery is speedy and complete.

In other news, I find it quite entertaining that Ave Maria has a subdivision named "South Park" (click here for news story). Our own frequent commenters "Cartman," "Mr. Garrison" and "Towelie" could feel right at home there.

Meanwhile, some commenters find the idea of keeping Tom Monaghan's obsessions behind closed fences a good thing.
