More Fun From Dean Bernie "I Know You Are, But What Am I" Dobranski

Subject: December 6 Meeting

Dear Students,

In my November 22, e-mail distributing the Feasibility Study prepared by Deans Read and White, I indicated that we planned to have meetings for interested individuals and groups to meet with available Board members. As part of that process, I indicated a tentative plan for such a meeting for current students on either Wednesday, December 6, or Thursday, December 7. I write now to announce that this meeting will be held on December 6, at 12:15 p.m. in Room 269. At present, Gerald Bradley and Kate O'Beirne from the Board of Governors are scheduled to attend. The purpose of the meeting is for the Board members to listen to your views about the study, and the decision on whether to re-locate.

Some have asked if this meeting could be delayed until the beginning of next semester. I am sensitive to the fact that final exams are approaching, but the Board and I believe that it is important to receive your input before the December 14 Board meeting, a meeting which will involve an extensive discussion of the Feasibility Study and the reactions to it. As indicated in the November 22 memo, if more time for reaction and comment to the study is necessary, we are prepared to provide that. Thus, I am prepared to recommend to the Board that, in addition to the December 6 meeting for students, we try to schedule an additional one shortly after the next semester begins.

Finally, in addition to a meeting on December 6 in Room 269, the Board members will also be available for private meetings that day with anyone who wishes to do so. A posting of times and locations will be distributed next week.

Your input is important, and I urge you to attend next Wednesday.

Dean Bernard Dobranski

As Gomer Pyle once said: "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!" A meeting that includes Katie "Quit Picking On Me" O' Beirne and Gerry "I don't care, I'm at Notre Dame" Bradley. I'm sure that these folks will listen intently, nod their heads, and display the proper amount of gravitas. It is interesting to consider whether they and the rest of the Board stand behind the work of Deans Read and White. As an alum and gentleman of the South indicated to me yesterday after having read the feasibility study: "It seems that Dean Read can't write and Dean White can't read."

Good Luck Students, give 'em hell (and demand a job at National Review post graduation).
