He Made Me Do It

Yesterday, the Church of England made the following significant contribution to Christian thought:

Church of England leaders warned yesterday that calling God 'He' encourages men to beat their wives.

They told churchgoers they must think twice before they refer to God as 'He' or 'Lord' because of the dangers that it will lead to domestic abuse.

Apparently, this nonsense has received the support of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The state of the Anglican Church is simply pathetic. A local Anglo-Catholic priest said a few years back that the reason he remains in the Anglican/Episcopal Church is because Cardinal Newman said that it was the last bulwark against modernism. Perhaps that was true of the Anglican Church of the 19th century, but it has now decayed into pure decadence. Ironically, it was the tradition-minded Anglican Church promoting this nonsense, but it was an evangelical - someone whose church does not recognize the importance of tradition - who saw to the truth of the matter: "They appear to suggest seriously that we should ditch many centuries of Judaeo-Christian teaching because of some half-baked feminist theory."

Some here have objected to the discussions of women of the street, etc., but it is only among Anglicans that we can learn that "If God is male, then the male is God." And some people wonder why the Anglican Church is becoming a mere spectacle.
