Financial support of Ave Maria

AMSOL Pioneer suggested a new thread for the sticky issues of alumni donations and financial support. How should alumni and students who are opposed to the current governance/sole proprietorship of the school financially support the school? As Friday noted, in some ways it's "damned if you do, damned if you don't." Supporting the school financially would indicate support for how the school is currently being run. Not supporting the school damages the school's reputation (with the lower alumni/student donating percentage) and gives those governing the school another reason to move it where Mr. Monaghan's money is guaranteed.

Some options that have been suggested include:
1. Creating an outside, public escrow account for alumni donations.
2. Making pledges to the school, but no donations.
3. Making donations with conditions attached. ("This donation can only be used for Lex Vitae," or "This donation can only be used for the institution in Ann Arbor.")

Any other possible options? Pros and cons? Are they practical or possible?
