What is so special about Calvin & Hobbes?

Devil's Advocate: Regarding your post below...what a non sequitur! You act as though these two guys have been the source of much good in your life...as though their books are the stuff of coffee-table decor, with excerpts adorning everything from cubicle walls to refrigerator doors. You also act like this material is suitable for children, almost as though it is on par with Mother Goose and Grimm's fairy tales. But I just don't see it. Hobbes especially...the drawing on the cover of that one book he wrote (about Levis or some such thing) really kinda freaks me out. But reading Calvin is no jaunt to the throne on a Sunday morning either, mind you.

Suit yourself, advocatus diabolis. Stick with the far side of Christianity and political philosophy, if it floats your boat. I'd prefer to stay close to home with some Aquinas or John Paul II.

Of course, I might have just misunderstood your post....
